Reconnecting with my family by changing the way we do dinner

As children, eating dinner with our families was a nightly occurrence, but as adults we seem to have fallen out of the habit. About a month ago, we decided to try an experiment: one day a week, each one of us would commit to making dinner for the family. We’ve been incredibly pleased with our arrangement, which has led to some unexpected benefits…

A Megan-simple sesame chicken salad

This is a great salad to pack for lunches. It’ll keep for about a week in the fridge, but I like it so much it’s never lasted that long. It’s also a very forgiving recipe, so add more of the ingredients you like and cut back those you don’t like or don’t have.

Make perfectly-sized mini burger patties and keep your hands clean

This is my kitchen DUH! moment. Instead of getting my hands dirty trying to form the perfect mini burger, I could use tools in my kitchen to do the work for me!

Yummy, lactose-free mac ‘n cheese

Make Peeps sushi for Easter

Mich made sushi out of mutha’fucking marshmallow Peeps for Easter! These were all made with a combination of Peeps, Rice Crispy treats, Fruit Roll-Ups and Fruit by the Foot.

Whether it’s foods, drinks, or decor, being on a stick makes it portable, fashionable and fabulous. Here’s our savory, sweet, and sometimes even swanky roundup of all things Offbeat Home & Life… on a STICK!

Use your crockpot to make chicken tacos

My name is Mich and I’m addicted to my crockpot. Here’s my favourite, cheap and easy crockpot recipe: chicken tacos. This recipe makes eight meals for me and my husband — that’s 16 portions for about $14 (I buy chicken when it’s on sale and freeze it).
