Cleaning

Keeping spaces nice and clean.

Let’s talk about what washing machine to buy

We had an older washer break, and apparently it is not something Miss Fix-it here can fix. Being as it is an older washer and repairing may be an endless pit, we have decided to replace it. Does anyone have a washer they’d recommend? Has anyone ever purchased a refurbished appliance, and how did that work out?

Great idea of the day: Use bottles and jars to organize your necklaces

I know your always looking for new and efficient ways to store your jewelry. We’ve featured a lot of jewelry displays, but what if you don’t want to keep all of your jewelry out, hanging up, etc. This great idea comes from Becky who uses bottles to separate and organize her necklaces.

Old collections: basement fodder or cool display?

I have a lot of Speech and Debate trophies from high school. They fill up a few big plastic tubs in my parents’ basement. Is recycling still worth it?

I seem to have run into an obstacle in my marriage, regarding recycling. My husband seems to be under the impression that it takes more energy to recycle a bottle, or can, or cardboard box, than it does to simply toss it in the garbage — and therefore, is not worth recycling, because it’s creating more pollution than just tossing it.

So, I have some questions…

Use press-and-seal wrap to protect fridge shelves

Protecting your refrigerator shelves from permanent messes (and smells!) isn’t too hard if you employ some press-and-seal style plastic wrap.

This item in your medicine cabinet can make old plastic new again

Restoring old stereoware is my new habit — but I often get stuck on the plastic knobs, some of which have gotten gnarly and faded. I’m here to find out what my options are to save these little doodads.
