Normally I’m not into nautical themes, but I’m realizing now what I don’t like is “rich person’s nautical.” This is awesome!!
Talk about synchronicity! I just went to a home store that has lots of nautical-themed stuff and I was thinking about creating a nautical-themed bedroom when my boyfriend and I move into our new place (if my boyfriend likes it, of course!). When I saw all the decor, it reminded me of going to the lake with my uncle and cousins when I was 4 and 5 years old. This is great!
Oooh, I have ideas for a nautical theme bedroom! How about a bed where you make a canopy frame out of long poles of driftwood? Some beaches on the Pacific Coast get quite a few of these all the time. Instead of gauze and ruffles, drape it in fishing net (you can buy it from cheap party catalogs for pirate parties. I use it as a way to extend laundry-hanging space.) Another touch, in general, would be to get a bag of shells from a craft store and glue them onto the legs and lower parts of furniture as if they latched on during high tide (stop them all at the same level throughout the room.) And you can get shell-shaped pillows.
