Let’s hear it for this daring fuschia and black bathroom in this Dallas, Texas home! I am loving the fuschia lacquered drawers with the white countertops and the black stone floor. But what really gets me about this bathroom is the expanding shower situation.

See, the vanity section of the bathroom openly flows into the shower and the toilet area. Do you see something interesting about that shower set up? Let’s look closer…

I’m seeing shower doors (that don’t even look like they’d necessarily meet? Unless maybe they close off to a triangular shower?) AND huge shower curtains. I think this is the first expanding shower I’ve ever seen. Perhaps this was a way the home owners hacked this bathroom to be wheelchair-friendly? (FUCK YEAH, ACCESSIBILITY!) Maybe they just really enjoy large group showers every now and then?

Either way, fuschia and black bathrooms with expanding showers are AWESOME!

Comments on Fuschia and black bathroom with the expanding shower

  1. From my eye, I think the frosted doors are just privacy panels for the large picture windows on either side, that can be folded into the shower and out of the way when not needed… I definitely dig the huge footprint of that shower. My FH being wheelchair bound, I can definitely appreciate the barrier-free design!

    • It does look like privacy things, I think you’re right…but look at that balcony and all those trees! I don’t think you even NEED it! That bathroom is just ridiculously amazing. All it’s missing is an epic tub.

    • Oh man I didn’t even notice the grab bars! I had to scroll back up and look for them after reading your comment. This is an accessibility win! High style and high function!

  2. Ooh, definitely an accessibility win. Check out the dressing table style cabinets to get up to the mirror in a chair. What a well designed and decadently stylish bathroom!

  3. The door on the left might actually be 2 doors that fold out accordian style to meet the other door. We have a fairly open shower and in the winter I spend twice as long because I always want to get warm first, which basically means heating up the whole bathroom with the steam (don’t tell the environment! :-/ ). We’re moving soon, though, and I’m totally looking forward to having a little shower stall. So, I guess my point is – it seems to work both ways and I can understand the purpose of having a smaller area too. 🙂 Anyway, super awesome!
