Keep the distraction going with these choice Clicky Links!

  • A while back we talked about preventing pet damage in the garden. The Walden Effect has a new post with more information on how to prevent animals from damaging your crops.
  • Over at Topiary and Tiramisu, Lisa’s kids are earning money by selling the vegetable bounty of their garden at a roadside stand.
  • Remember when we ran the post on human nests? Here’s a late addition: an adult cradle from Fresh Home. Looks sooo cozy.
  • Would you install a James Bondian underground car port?
  • I’ve been nerding out about adverse possession — the precedent under which squatters can take over abandoned property. Nerd out with me with this article on GOOD.

Offbeat Home wants your shots! Upload your photographs to our Flickr pool and we’ll alllllll look at them. You can also submit stories, tours, how-tos, questions, and clicky links. Check out the submissions page for all the information.

Comments on A fairy door, a rainbow of produce, and one very attentive dog

  1. Vintage home! I didn’t even think of that before. D’oh!

The chard looks magical *cue sparklies and dreamy music* and if it would lead to the fairy door….yes!

  2. I love that dog! My fully pitboy is just so massive… i often wish he was more compact, like this little lady. He can’t help it though, he’s big boned and doesn’t realize it.

  3. Holy toledo, I want that doggy! Do they come in white? I have 3 all white doggles currently. Mine are all deaf, but I would not be opposed to a hearing dog. I must find myself a bullhuahua!

  4. I don’t think Adverse Possession was ever meant for squatters to take over property, and I can’t see how any one will allow someone to live at their house for upwards towards 10+ years. It’s a good idea in theory, but usually I only see it exercised towards property usage such as “his fence is on her yard so now it’s his property” sort of thing. Plus, you’d have to sue the existing property owner to get ownership via adverse possession, so it really seems like a horrible way to take over a property.

  5. Oh my goodness! For a second there I thought I was looking at a pic of my dog! Ours is a chihuahua x staffie. Very similar, awesome personality. 🙂

  6. OH HAI! That’s my girl! I just about had a heart attack because I had NO idea my photo was picked. This is me: ~Doodle-do, bored, let’s look at Offbeat Home.~ *scrollscrollscrollGASP* “OMYJEBUS!”

    Concerned co-workers everywhere.
